DEMOCRACY in México

reality or myth?

Democracy can be defined as a political instrument that allows citizens of a country freely elect their leaders. Therefore the implementation of democracy in our country as a political role model is beyond dispute, despite the lack of political will to implement it by those who have this duty in Mexico.

Democracy has perfected over the years of its implementation. So today we have, as essential points of the democratic agenda, issues like human rights, minority rights, environment, access to justice, restrictions on the exercise of power, and long list of other issues that, if not addressed, not we could say that we talk about democracy.

This democratic right, is not fulfilled in Mexico. Indeed, in this country Mexicans can not freely choose any candidate for elected office because elections are totally uneven and thereby clouding decision-making capacity of citizens.
